In Defense of: Tila Tequila

I know it's hard to find good things to say about Tila Tequila. She's hot. She's got a nice body and she doesn't mind showing it off. These things are obvious, but maybe it seems that it ends there. Not so.

Tila Tequila makes life in the celebrity gossip game fun. The girl is always up to something and I have to thank her for that. She fills my Twitter time line with all sorts of pearls of wisdom - okay, maybe they're more insane ramblings, but they're fun.

What worries me is that Tila seems to have gone completely off the deep end. I'm not referring to the now infamous strip show on ustream. That isn't really that shocking considering it came from Tila. It was the talking she did before and after. She's clearly not well. In fact, I can't really think of anyone in the entertainment industry I'm more concerned about.

The problem is the backlash against her. She's a real person, folks - crazy as she may be. She has feelings. If she was assaulted by her boyfriend, he needs to be held accountable - not Tila. Domestic violence is a serious issue regardless of who is abused. No one deserves to be hit. The fact that her version of the story is being as hotly debated as it is makes me feel sorry for her - very sorry - and hope for all battered women everywhere that she isn't crying wolf.

Tila Tequila is in the public eye - love her or hate her, you can't ignore her. She isn't goin' away. If she lied about what happened, that puts pressure on all the women out there who have legitimately been abused. They might feel more afraid to come forward because they don't want to face being called a liar.

That said, Tila should be given the benefit of the doubt. If the allegations are true, she doesn't deserve to get beaten up all over again for being brave enough to take him to court.

In the end, I think Tila needs to lay low for a while and have her day in court. Night like last night are only making things worse for her, even if it's entertaining for us. I can take a slightly less exciting Twitter feed if it means the girl gets herself healthy.
